SEN SOK VILLAGE 5

If you notice the number ‘5’ that basically means that we currently serve the 5th village of the 7 villages here in Sen Sok. The genesis of our service here began in Village 1, where we would journey every Wednesdays for Life Groups’. What started out as a gathering outside a small house, now stands as a School.

Currently serving in Village 5, the ministry here was growing so quickly that we built a small structure to accommodate for the families. Village 5 is home to about 25 families who have limited access to electricity, plumbing and running water. We journey to the slums on a weekly basis carrying out the programs set-up with the desire to serve the people of Sen Sok.

SMILE VILLAGE

In 2011, a woman saw a group of 30 families living in the dumps in the outskirts of Phnom Penh; determined to help, she traveled back to her country desiring to raise funds, and with it return to build a village (about 45 minutes - 1 hour from the International Airport) that would be able to cater for the impoverished families. Years later, with access to a community center, playground, childcare, and jobs, these families are in a much better situation compared to their previous homes.

Although with this great blessing, the chief of the village stated that not much had changed. With that He invited the Zeal Ministry to devise a program that would serve the purpose of building the character of the people of his village.

TAKEO VILLAGE

About 2 hours from Phnom Penh, Takeo village of the Kandal province is the residence of a few families that in past years have established a great relationship with the Zeal Ministry.

With positive outcomes of visitations, Takeo breathes opportunities and possibilities of increasing and expanding the ministry in terms of the number of people to serve and the type of service. A few years ago, the ministry played a pivotal role in installing the well (bore-hole) in the pic and a major factor in it was the prayers of the families.

There is a public primary school that caters for most of the children within a 50 mile range, and the Ministry envisions administering free English lessons to the children of Takeo.

In our visits, we arrange devotions that has the focus of edifying the character of this lovable community.

KAMPOT VILLAGE

About 3 hours from the capital, Kampot is a very rural, impoverished area with most of its places not having heard of Jesus Christ. Here, kids have no reasonable access to school — the closest being 50 miles away and families having no access to clean, running water.

Establishing a relationship with a family in Kampot, we look forward to encountering these problems and working out solutions that would better their lives and further their relationship with God.

With that being said, we have an amazing God-given opportunity to buy a plot of land from the parents of one of our congregants, with plans to build a building that would serve as a Church, school, and community center. With this, we yearn to further hire local workers providing the much needed jobs.
